Got The Keys

24 02 2012

The 21st century finally caught up with me and I got an iPhone. I think this means my photos will look a little better.

One of my favourite designs ever.

DH 1997. TWKDS TWSDK.

Black and gray pocket watch and moth.

Don’t tread on Lee. The best/worst snake ever.

I’ve got another one to post up, but it will have to wait a week or so… cryptic.

Finally, welcome one and all…

Thank you

From 3rd March 2012 Thomas Street Tattoo will close it’s doors and I will be working at the Swansea Tattoo Company in Swansea, South Wales.
I’ll still be working alongside Lee Hadfield.
Tutti Serra will be guesting at the shop on the opening week, and there are a lot of other guests in the pipeline.

Thank you to everybody that got tattooed at Thomas Street, I hope to see you all at the new premises.
The opening party is on the 3rd March.

I got a photo of Pingu’s healed thighs together when he came to get a tattoo from Jelle.

I was lucky enough to be asked to be a part of the Milton Zeis project earlier this year. Seeing my name alongside a lot of my favourite tattooers is mindblowing, and I am extremely grateful for this opportunity…

A biography and tribute to one of tattooing’s most legendary figures. This book follows Zeis’s life from birth, documenting his many interests as well as his formidable ventures in tattooing. This book documents the life and work of this influential man, from the young days train-hopping to his adult years running The Zeis Studio and performing as Uncle Milty the clown. It also includes 95 of today’s best tattooers paying homage to Zeis by repainting some of the most iconic flash sheets distributed by The Zeis studio from the 1920’s to the 1970’s.

This book will be available soon through Yellowbeak Press

Tomorrow is my last day in the shop until the new year. In the meantime I will be storming through Europe. Come and say hi!

Merry Christmas. Happy New Year. Mettā. 2012.

Another black tattoo on Pingu.

A fun walk in I thought I would share.

In progress Jap-ish tattoo in Lee’s thigh-ish. Lower tattoo not by me. Semi NSFW I guess, but you shouldn’t be looking at my blog at work. Or at all, really.

Gwyn is 70 years young, and at least 70 times cooler than you.

Last week I went to New York. Here is proof. Next to the Seven Sisters at the American Museum of Folk Art.

As well as visiting all of the museums and galleries and generally being a tourist, I picked up a few tattoos.

Daniel Santoro, Smith Street Tattoo, Brooklyn

Robert Ryan, Electric Tattoo, New Jersey

Robert Ryan also took me to the ’3rd degree above Paranormal’, and photographs cannot start to do it justice.

Meeting and getting tattooed by two of my favourite tattooers were incredible experiences and I cannot recommend both shops highly enough. One of the best weeks ever.

Thank you
